Special Letter from Luke & Mark
Thanks to the generous support of many individuals and businesses, the Challenge Your Fashion event will be back on January 14, 2012! That means another year of fun and fashion, the best silent and live auctions, and local sports heroes on the runway.
Most of all, we're excited to make sure this event is one that the YMCA of Greater Kansas City and our community can continue to count on to help make sure that kids of all abilities have a place to play sports.
We, along with our wives Ashley Hochevar and Lauren Teahen, feel blessed to be able to give back to a cause so important to us. The Y is all about strengthening the community. Every day, volunteers and staff work together to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, mental or physical challenge, has the opportunity to learn, grow, thrive and PLAY. Your continued support makes the community stronger by providing all an opportunity to be active and be part of a team.
Funds raised from the Challenge Your Fashion event in the past have made Phase 1 of the all-accessible Fred and Shirley Pryor YMCA Challenger Sports Complex a reality. With funds raised from the 2011 event we're currently building the pavilion, which includes restrooms and a concession stand.
But we're not done yet. Your contribution to the 2012 Challenge Your Fashion event will go toward Phase 2 of the sports complex, which will include the Trent Green Family Football and Soccer Field made of synthetic rubber turf and an accessible playground.
Challenge Your Fashion has thrived on the generosity of our sponsors. We are grateful for the number of our sponsors that have shown support for this event year after year. The 2011 Challenge Your Fashion event raised a net total of $340,000 and allowed construction of the pavilion. Getting children of all abilities on the field has always been our goal, and we thank you for having a role in making that happen. Be sure to visit the Adapative Programs page on the YMCA of Greater Kansas City website to find additional opportunities to get involved with Challenger.
We, along with returning co-chairs Scott and Lisa Hallier, the rest of our volunteer committee, Michelle Ford of the YMCA of Greater Kansas City, and most importantly all YMCA Challenger Athletes, thank you for your dedication to Challenge Your Fashion. We couldn't do it without you.
Sincerely,
Luke Hochevar & Mark Teahen
